Woman outlines spiritual path that led to recovery from alcoholism

An Ogden woman is looking forward to what she says is her new life as she goes with members of her family today to receive her endowment in the Draper temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Carolyn Lawrence, 56, said the road to achieving this goal has been a long one.

An alcoholic since age 13, Lawrence said she struggled for years to overcome her addiction, which only seemed to get worse over time as it medicated her emotions and her back pain.

Originally from Salt Lake City, Lawrence lived for 30 years in California and was a dental hygienist.

"I made good money, and it all went to alcohol," she said.
