YW Lesson 2-14: "The Blessings of the Temple"

Lesson Helps

Among my favorite statistics from General Conference last week was this one: that 83% of Church members live within 200 miles of a temple. In my case, it's 20 miles almost exactly. Having a temple so close has blessed my life and our stake. Our ward staffs service slots. We have sealers and ordinance workers in our ward. We have stake and ward temple nights/days. Our youth go on frequent temple trips - the most recent one was a baptismal trip just for the Beehives and Deacons, and we've got a 14+ one coming up in a few weeks. Our pioneer trek youth conference last summer began with an early-morning meeting on temple grounds, to remind us what the Saints were leaving when they pulled out of Nauvoo, and what they were striving to build when they got to the Salt Lake Valley. A family can easily go there for a family home evening and stroll the grounds. I feel like even though it's not in our stake boundaries, that our temple is the beating heart at the center of our stake.

So in our case it won't be hard to consider many of the blessings of regular temple attendance as discussed in this lesson, because they're not hypothetical for my girls and their families.
