Young women walk 22 miles from temple to temple

For a Young Women activity on July 27, we had the opportunity to watch the movie "Only a Stonecutter" and then visit the home of John Rowe Moyle at Moyle Historical Park in Alpine, Utah. As a group of Cedar Hills 6th Ward young women and leaders, we came to learn the sacrifices John made as he walked 22 miles every week to the Salt Lake Temple to fulfill his calling as a stonecutter. We also learned about his famous engraving — "Holiness to the Lord" — on the east side of the temple.

Just as the activity was coming to an end, our Young Women President Michele Carnesecca offered us a challenge. As a reenactment of John Rowe Moyle and to learn about the importance of the temple, she challenged us to walk 22 miles to the Salt Lake Temple on Sept. 18.

At this point, our hearts must have stopped beating because we were all speechless. I guess you could say that when Sister Carnesecca gives challenges, she does not want us to just go the extra mile — she wants us to go 22 miles.
