I love all the countdowns to Christmas I see pop up in the blogs at the beginning of December, and since it isn’t too far into December, I thought I’d share some of these creative and spiritual ways people look forward to the big day in case you want to share them with your family and friends. First, the Mormon.org annual countdown to Christmas on Facebook will feature these magnificent cards (scroll down a bit to see them) that you can share with your family friends. Click in to take a look — and prepare to be amazed!
OK, maybe not a “gazillion.” Today’s column spotlights blogs that list hundreds, actually thousands, of fun ideas to make your summer an absolute blast. Let’s get right into the “gazillion” part with Sassy Sites' “A ‘Gazillion' Summer Activities.” She includes many of her own ideas but has also done us the favor of sifting through Pinterest and other websites. There’s even a printable that assembles 101 ideas all on one sheet of paper. Don’t believe me? Check it out!
I do so love seeing what kind of Valentine's Day ideas and treats bloggers come up with every February. Here’s a smattering of some of the sweets you can find. Maybe it’s because I am hungry, or maybe because these look so scrumptious, but I’m going to start out by spotlighting these “Heart-Shaped Cinnamon Rolls” that are absolutely genius in their construction (roll them up like a scroll instead of a roll to get the heart shape).

Youth resources: Last week I pointed out a teaser trailer for Mormon Channel's Strength of Youth 2013 media, and I am excited to now highlight the entire Strength of Youth 2013 media playlist. It features 15 videos on subjects such as “We're Still a Family - Plan of Salvation,” “Through Small Things - Home & Family,” “The Glory of God is Intelligence — Standards: Education" and many more. I love how so many of them feature youth testimonies in voices from around the world. In a similar vein, find a good explanation for some of the new learning resources for youths found in this month’s Ensign and online. Check it all out!
What will you remember about “This Mormon Moment”? wonders this blogger. She explains “Maybe what it has changed is my view of myself. Regardless of whether or not I tend to lean more Mitt Romney or more Harry Reid with my politics, having prominent Mormons in both parties and having countless articles written about what I believe has caused a shift in my thinking. I’m freer now. I can stop worrying that everyone who hears me say, 'I’m a Mormon' is going to think that I’m a member of a cult or repressed or whatever."
f you are in charge of a New Year’s Eve Party, consider this brilliant idea for sharing “30 Minutes of Wisdom.” This blogger explains how it works: “This year we would like each of you to take ONE MINUTE to share some wisdom with the rest of us; something you wish everyone else in the family knew, a skill, talent, testimony, activity, etc. What could bless everyone else and help along their journey? Since we each have unique gifts and talents and answers to prayers– we know that we can learn from one another.
Jesse Stay, LDS author of “Google+ Marketing For Dummies,” reached out on Facebook with this fantastic tip: “Here's an idea for all of you to never miss anything the LDS Church posts. 1. Go to Google+ and circle all the Church Pages there in an ‘Official LDS’ circle. 2. Click on the circle in the options at the top of your newsfeed so you're only seeing the posts from the ‘Official LDS’ circle. 3. In the upper-right, there will be a slider. If you slide that all the way to the right, it will send you email notifications of every post the Church makes on Google+. 4. Now, +1, comment, and share for every post — on every post you do this, it improves authority for each post and improves our visibility on the web!” What a great idea. If you are using Google+ (or even if you are not), click in to set it up!
Bloggers have been dissecting this media-proclaimed “Mormon Moment” since its inception. And I just must feature a few of these well-written faith treatises of sorts. Bold statement: “Calling Yourself Mormon Is a Very Bold Statement," declares blogger Jessie Stay. Why? “It means you believe in modern-day revelation. It means you believe there are men today that speak to God, and God speaks to them.
Have you seen the January 2013 New Era? You may not know, but there are actually four different covers. Fernando Camillo, manager of product awareness in the LDS Church's Curriculum Department, explains, “The New Era magazine kicked off its 2013 with four unique covers on the January 2013 issue. The magazine content is the same, but subscribers will randomly receive one of the four covers.
