Yesterday, after our prophetPresident Russell M. Nelson announced new guidelines for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and its members regarding how we should refer to ourselves and our church—including to avoid the use of the word Mormon and Mormonism—Twitter blew up. Here are a few of the best reactions:

Gone from twitter for an hour and came back to find I'm not Mormon anymore. Huh. — Vakaviti (@vakaviti) August 16, 2018
November 2017: Twitter increases limit to 280 characters August 2018: The Prophet stresses the importance of the name The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The ground was prepared brothers and sisters! — Ross (a Latter-day Saint Bishop) (@ldsbishop) August 16, 2018
Well...this is awkward. — Mormon Buzzz (@MormonBuzzz) August 16, 2018
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a good title for the Lord’s church because it puts The Saviour at the centre. My focus will be on actually putting Him at the centre of my own life and worry about my twitter handle later. all i have to say about the announcement is this: think about the way you feel when you hear the word “mormonism” now think about the way you feel when you hear the phrase “the gospel of Jesus Christ” — poetic kate (@poetickate) August 16, 2018
I’m fine with emphasising the proper name of the church. But anybody that writes “Latter-Day” instead of “Latter-day” will suffer severe consequences. — Ross (a Latter-day Saint Bishop) (@ldsbishop) August 16, 2018
