In my Church calling teaching early morning seminary, my co-teacher brought a bag of small items that we use in our student scripture sharing. Each day a seminary student randomly picks out an item. The student then has a day to search the assigned reading and find a scripture that has to do with that item. The purpose is it to help the youth read with greater focus and thoughtfulness as they try to find scriptural lessons or connections to things like a spoon, a plastic snake, an electrical adapter, etc. It is a fun method to allow the scriptures to speak to them in new, interesting ways. Despite being silly sometimes and challenging always, this exercise actually has a basis in scripture.
