2019 “Inspirational Artist of the Year”* pianist/arranger Garth Smith is pleased to announce the release of his fifth studio album “Classical Piano for the Sabbath Day”. The album release date is 24 July, 2020, and will be available for digital download on all major platforms, including iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon, and Spotify. CD’s will be available for ordering from Garth’s official website www.GarthSmithMusic.com. Shane Mickelsen (Mickelsen Music Services) served as Recording Engineer, with all tracks mastered by James S. Anderson (The Bit Farm).
Garth has specially selected pieces from the great composers included Beethoven, Liszt, Debussy, Schubert, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff and more. Each track was specifically selected because of its tranquil and peaceful nature. As a capstone to this project, Garth has included an original piano arrangement of the John Stainer classic “God So Loved the World”. This will be available in piano solo sheet music at www.GarthSmithMusic.com
Several FM stations nationwide are adding the album to their playlists. Rob Kennedy, host of Great Sacred Music (WCPE-FM, Wake Forest, North Carolina) said:
“These tracks will be ideal for our ‘Peaceful Reflections’ program”.
Merrill Jenson, well respected composer and arranger, said this about “Classical Piano for the Sabbath Day”:
“I highly recommend “Classical Piano for the Sabbath Day”. What an enjoyable hour I spent listening to it! I love the way Garth expresses the music he’s playing. Garth takes a fresh approach on each selection and makes it worth listening to over and over.”
Elan McMahan, Music Director/Conductor at the Old Globe Theater (San Diego, CA) and Resident Musical Director at Moonlight Theater (Vista, CA) said:
“Garth has created a beautiful piano solo album of contemplative classics. If you are looking for soothing music for a peaceful Sabbath quarantine, this fits the bill. I especially enjoyed Garth’s own arrangement of Stainer’s “God So Loved the World.”
