Unique LDS Stake Center being built by BYU

In order to facilitate 48 bishops and four BYU LDS Stakes, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced it will be building a special stake center at approximately 300 North and 900 East in Provo.

The 54,234 square foot building sits on six acres of land that was once owned by St. Francis Catholic Church and most recently Meridian School.

Jared Doxey, director of Architecture, Engineering and Construction for the LDS Church, said there are few buildings of this nature in the Church. "There is one in Davis County, in Bountiful, that is a stake center, but there are not a lot of these."
