Injured BYU Student Miraculously Recovered, Now Going on Mission

For someone who had a less than 5% chance of survival only six months ago, Lexi Hansen is surprisingly healthy and understandbly thrilled about serving a mission.

At the end of February this year, the 18-year-old BYU student was hit by a car while longboarding across a crosswalk. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition and with major brain injuries where her family was told she had only small chance of surviving. With the prayers and faith of her family and thousands of supporters on a Facebook page created specifically for her, Hansen beat the odds and began a slow recovery. The miraculous survivor received media attention again when she and her family showed love and forgiveness towards the driver who hit her. Now, six months later, soon-to-be Sister Hansen barely shows any traces of her accident and we are excited that she has the chance to share her faith and story with the people in Des Moine, Iowa.

Visit her Facebook page to watch the video of her opening the envelope.
