Lunch and Learn Series with Deseret Book Artists and AuthorsEvery Friday, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Downtown Deseret Book Store, SLC, Utah

Mar. 22: Mary Summerhays

Mary studied art at BYU and later apprenticed with J. Kirk Richards. Her watercolors often depict an Edenic garden, but are often infused with personality traits of her loved ones. But their spectrum is broad enough to include the Lord’s generosity to his children. She has received awards from Museums and competitions, and illustrated for documentaries on BYUTV, but she says, "nowhere is my art more meaningful than hanging in our home." Come hear her insights on art and religion at her lecture this month.

Mar. 29: Cristall Harper

Cristall Haper grew up in a house where art was encouraged. She enjoyed art in high school and graduated from BYU with a bachelor’s in fine arts. She is most well known for her oil paintings of tulips. Each year, she visits the Thanksgiving point tulip gardens to receive inspiration for her artwork.

Mar. 29: Dave Merrill

Dave Merrill is most famous for his wildlife oil paintings. He grew up in the small town of Payson, Utah, where he received inspiration for much of his artwork, including his most famous pieces that feature roosters. He received his BFA from BYU and now has artwork featured in galleries in Aspen, Jackson, Scottsdale, Sun Valley, Park City, Kansas City, San Antonio, and Santa Fe.
