While children hit baseballs and adults kicked around soccer balls, a few hundred members of the Visalia California Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints wielded shovels and rakes at a city sports park on April 30. After meeting at a central location, members of the stake fanned out around the large complex and got to work, sporting the eye-catching yellow vests that identified them as "Mormon Helping Hands" participants. Young adults and adults planted roses while families and children spread wood chips in areas that were previously just hard-packed dirt.
