Personal remembrances of Frances Monson, a gift to LDS Church president, others

Top of Utah residents are among those mourning the loss of Frances B. Monson, the wife of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints President Thomas S. Monson. Frances Monson, 85, died surrounded by family at 6:35 a.m. Friday in a Salt Lake City hospital. The cause of death was not immediately disclosed.

Many of those interviewed said they appreciated her example over the years and expressed concern for their church prophet recovering from the loss.

“She has been a wonderful example to all women,” said Ogden resident LaRue Beardall, who in the past has served as a Northern Utah public relations representative for the church.
