If you asked those closest to him to choose one word to describe President Russell M. Nelson, you might be surprised at the variety of responses. Father. Patriarch. Scientist. Researcher. Servant. Friend. Songwriter. Physician. Prophet. Musician. Surgeon. Husband. Disciple. These words and many more describe a man who has found joy in serving and caring for others, and following the example of the Savior, Jesus Christ.

Family, friends and associates from around the world are invited to join in a celebration of President Russell M. Nelson’s 95th birthday on Friday, September 6 at 7:00 p.m. MDT at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City.

Acclaimed performers and distinguished guests will provide musical performances, personal tributes and tender insights into the life, ministry and service of President Nelson.

“These types of celebrations, which we have seen since the early years of the Church, give us inspiring insight into the lives of those chosen by God to serve as His prophets,” said President Dallin H. Oaks of the First Presidency. “I have personally attended many such events for past prophets, and each time I leave with a sense of wonder and gratitude for the way in which our Father in Heaven shapes, trains and teaches His prophets. It will be a privilege for all of us to participate and to celebrate President Nelson’s 95th birthday.”

Additional details about performers, speakers and guests will be announced in the coming weeks. Free tickets for this event will be available on ChurchofJesusChrist.org beginning July 30 at 10:00 a.m. and will be limited to two tickets per individual.
