'Golden Toaster' to be given to USU in land swap with LDS Church

The "Golden Toaster's" life as a notable landmark in Cache Valley may be coming to an end.

That's because Utah State University has recently completed negotiations with the LDS Church that will allow it to take ownership of the building on the east end of campus - with hopes to build a new USU building there, officials announced.

The church, known affectionately by some in the community as the "Golden Toaster" - for its unique shape and color - is located at 650 North and 1200 East, just east of USU's Fine Arts Center.
