After LA Lakers Workout, LDS Basketball Star Tyler Haws Answers Question About His Mission

21827

Who is Tyler Haws?

If you haven't heard of the BYU superstar who surpassed even Jimmer Fredette's scoring record, you probably will soon.

Haws, who just graduated from BYU in April, is touring a circuit of NBA teams that so far has included the  Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, Utah Jazz, and now the LA Lakers.

In an interview following the Lakers' workout, one reporter asked the NBA hopeful about his experience serving a mission for the Church. The exchange goes like this:

"You served a mission in the Philippines?"

"I did, yup."

"What was that experience like?"

"Yeah, so I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was there for two years. I played my freshman year at BYU with Jimmer Fredette and then I left basketball for two years and just taught people about Jesus Christ. It was an amazing experience and I wouldn't trade it for anything."

And he might not have to. In addition to the four NBA teams he's visited so far, Haws will also be visiting Golden State, the Brooklyn Nets, the Memphis Grizzlies, and a few others.
