Lesson Helps

This sharing time will engage the children in an activity that teaches them about our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ.
Preparation: Obtain or print out from lds.org a number of pictures depicting Jesus Christ (such as the ones from the Gospel Art Kit suggested below). Familiarize yourself with the story that goes with each picture if necessary.
Jesus Blessing Jarirus’s Daughter (Gospel Art Kit 215)
Christ Walking on Water (GAK 213)
Boy Jesus in the Temple (GAK 205)
Christ and the Children (GAK 216)
Christ with Mary and Martha (GAK 219)
Jesus Praying in Gethsemane (GAK 227)
Triumphal Entry (GAK 223)
Jesus Washing the Apostles’ Feet (GAK 226)
Jesus Showing His Wounds (GAK 234)
The Second Coming (GAK 238)
If you have pictures from the Gospel Art Kit, put a colored piece of paper behind each picture so the description is not visible on the back and place in a plastic sheet protector. Place the pictures face down on the table at the front of the room.
Presentation: Explain to the children that you have a number of pictures that show Jesus Christ and they are going to guess what they are. Have a child come to the front and let them choose one of the face down pictures. Have them hold it so no one can see what the image is. Have the rest of the children ask questions to help them figure out what the picture is. Use only yes and no questions. You might have to suggest some questions to get them started, such as "Are there children in the picture?" "Is there water in the picture?" etc. Have the child holding the picture answer the questions (they can look to you for help if needed). Tell the children they have to guess what the picture is in 20 questions or less (after 20 questions, show them the picture).
After the picture has been revealed, call on a child to briefly retell the story the picture represents. Fill in any details needed and post the picture on the board. Repeat with as many pictures as time allows.
Testify to the children that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. He is an example for us. Through His Atonement we can return to live with Heavenly Father. Jesus was resurrected and so will we. Heavenly Father sent Jesus here to fulfill His promises to us.
Sing songs that reinforce the concepts taught in this sharing time such as: "He Sent His Son," (Children’s Songbook, 34); "Beautiful Savior," (CS, 57); "I Feel My Saviors Love" (CS, 74); "I’m Trying to Be Like Jesus," (CS, 78), and "Did Jesus Really Live Again?" (CS, 64).
