Big screen debut for British LDS actor

A church-goer from Warwick is about to make his big screen debut.

Gideon Wilkins landed a role in a major movie made by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - known widely as the Mormon Church - and has just returned from filming in the USA.

The 32-year-old played John the Baptist one of a series of films being made by the Church portraying the life of Jesus Christ, as recorded in the New Testament.
Filming took place 50 miles from the Church's headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah, in the middle of the countryside on a specially created three-acre replica set of ancient Jerusalem.
