by | Mar. 05, 2020

Mark your calendars—early reservations for Church campgrounds in 2021 are just around the corner.

From the alpines of Mt. Rainier to the forests of New Zealand, the Church has 144 campgrounds located all around the world available for reservation. Whether it's a young women’s group or a family looking to spend time outdoors, chances are there’s a site that will suit just about everyone.

According to a Church letter, reservations for campgrounds open first for stake Young Women presidencies at 8:00 a.m. mountain daylight time on May 1, 2020, followed by stake Young Men, ward, and branch organizations. “Stakes, wards, families, and others may also use these camps for approved activities,” according to the Church’s website.

An outline of when reservations will be made available are as follows:

  • May 1: Stake YW presidencies may make reservations to their assigned camp.
  • May 15: Stake YW presidencies may make reservations to any camp.
  • June 1: Ward YW presidencies may make reservations to their assigned camp.
  • June 15: Ward YW presidencies may make reservations to any camp.
  • July 1: Stake and Ward YM presidencies may make reservations to their assigned camp.
  • July 15: Stake and Ward YM presidencies may make reservations to any camp.
  • August 1: Stake and Ward presidencies may make reservations to their assigned camp.
  • August 15: Stake and Ward presidencies may make reservations to any camp.
  • October 1: All Church members, including families, may make reservations to any camp.

Recreational facilities are primarily dedicated to providing “a dedicated outdoor setting for Church activities,” as well as a place “to help young women feel the Spirit and enjoy safe, wholesome recreation,” the Church’s website reads. The site also lists how the camps should help young women come unto Christ in the following ways:

  • • Confirming their identity as daughters of God.
  • • Recognizing and cultivating the Spirit.
  • • Keeping baptismal covenants.
  • • Preparing for their future roles.
