The uncommon life of young Mormon missionaries

NEW BEDFORD — Five hundred miles from home, and on his first assignment as a Mormon missionary, Elder Andre Marques and his fellow companion began knocking on doors in New Hampshire's Merrimack County. "We met this guy and asked him if he would like to hear more about Jesus Christ?" recalled Marques. "He started swearing at us and said, 'Don't ever come back or I'll kill you!"

This was just another day in the life of a young Mormon missionary, according to Marques, 20, and his current companion, Elder Nicholas Griffin, 20, who are now serving SouthCoast.
