4. The Refiner's Fire
The refiner’s fire is uncomfortable and involves intense heat and repeated hammering. It is in this fire that we are purified and prepared to meet God. This was the case for Kim Martin when multiple members of her family passed away around the same time.
"I began to think that I might fail, but the Lord was not going to allow me to fail," Martin said. "And I know that's not unique to me. He does that for everybody."
5. Bearing Burdens with Hope
When we face challenges in life, we can take comfort in the truth that such experiences will build our strength and bring us closer to God. Such is the case in this video when a young husband treks out to retrieve firewood and gets stuck in the woods.

"Is the load I am carrying producing the spiritual traction that will enable me to press forward with faith in Christ on the straight and narrow path?"

"Though we will face trials, heartaches, and all manner of afflictions, our caring, loving Savior will always be there for us," he said.
Friends can be instrumental in helping each other overcome grief. This video, which was shared by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland on his Facebook page in March, shares “how the Christlike love of a friend helped one man overcome overwhelming grief in the wake of the death of his son.”
