“A Prophet and a Man: The Spiritual and Human Sides of Joseph Smith.”
Joseph Smith taught that a prophet is not always a prophet, “he is only a prophet when he is acting as such.” Although he was called by God to be His spokesman on earth, Joseph Smith was also entitled to live life like other mortal men and display normal “human” behavior. This presentation will highlight experiences in Joseph Smith’s life that illustrate his personality, character traits, idiosyncrasies, and interests, to show the type of person he really was.

“Precept Upon Precept: Joseph Smith and Restored Doctrine”

The success and surprising influence of the Latter-day Saint community is due principally to our theological foundation, the doctrines we believe, doctrines that trace themselves almost exclusively to the translations, revelations, writings, and sermons of Joseph Smith. Today we build on the foundation laid by Joseph Smith the Prophet. Indeed, some of the strongest evidences of Joseph Smith’s prophetic call—proofs if you will, of the fact that he was raised up and divinely empowered to initiate a marvelous work and a wonder—are the doctrines that came to and through him.

Susan Easton Black
“Joseph Smith: Candidate for US President”

In the volatile election of 1844, when Manifest Destiny and slavery were issues that divided the nation, the Prophet Joseph Smith announced his candidacy for president of the United States. Was the Prophet Joseph a viable candidate? If elected to the highest office in the nation, what issues would his presidency address?  Find answers to these questions and others at this History of the Saints presentation.

Glenn Rawson
“Brother Joseph”

In the mouth of witnesses the Lord establishes his truth. There were those close to Joseph who knew him and witnessed the prophetic mantle upon him. This presentation is the testimonies and stories of those who knew Joseph and left their witness on record.
