The 2012 election, pop culture and more are prompting members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Sugnet Road in Midland to take an active approach in sharing their story. Members of the church want to open up a dialog with the community and simply be good neighbors. The effort was prompted by portrayals in the media, Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign and the Midland Neighboring program.
“I think this fits right in with that trajectory and dialog,” said Daniel Newton, a local church member. Newton and another church member, Scott Pennock, recently gave a presentation at the Daily News with the theme “The Mormon Next Door.”
