Basketball star and New York native Jimmer Fredette is heading home.
According to league sources, the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association plan to sign guard Jimmer Fredette to a 10-day contract. He's spent most of the season playing for the team's D-League squad in Westchester.

Jimmer became a household name for Mormon sports fans during his time at Brigham Young University. His senior year, he led the nation in scoring and led his team on a run in March Madness. His efforts earned him National Player of the Year honors, and his name became a verb. Though he was selected with the 10th pick in the 2011 NBA draft, he's since struggled to find a place in the league.
Jimmer's career has taken him to Sacramento, Chicago, New Orleans, San Antonio, and New Orleans again before landing him back in the Empire State to play for the D-League Westchester Knicks. He's had difficulty adjusting his game to the NBA, but his stint in Westchester proved beyond a doubt that he's still one of the world's most exciting players. He scored 37 points and dished out 8 assists in his D-League debut and didn't slow down much from there. He was named the MVP of last week's D-League All-Star game, leading his team to a victory. Jimmer scored 35 points, dished 8 assists, and collected 6 rebounds and a steal--all in a mere 25 minutes.
