Rebecca Connolly: Believing in Happily Ever After

Rebecca Connolly is an author of stories but she is well aware of who the Author of the best stories is and it is in Him that she has placed her trust. From choosing to quit her job in order to write full-time to writing love stories and continuing to believe in them despite having yet to find a love story of her own, Rebecca has placed her pen firmly in the hand of God. On this week’s episode, we talk with Rebecca about discovering her own story as she tells the stories of others, some fictional but some real heroes whose stories are worth telling.

Emily Inouye Huey: The Generational Impact of Belief in Humanity

Emily Inouye Huey’s father was born in a prison camp during World War II. His parents were imprisoned simply for the color of their skin and suffered terrible injustices. Still, Huey’s father and other ancestors chose to move forward following the war, refusing to harbor resentment or bitterness—passing on to their children and grandchildren the hope of a much brighter future. Today, Emily is an author who wants to make sure their victory over the atrocities of war is known and that their legacy lives on.

Alma 17–22: Instrument

Alma 17–22 is full of great missionary stories. Abish, Ammon, his brothers, and those they taught all learned about the nature of God through the power of the Holy Ghost. They were examples of belief, service, and most of all an example of being an instrument in the hands of the Lord to share His message.

Lance Funk was just 51-years-old when he was diagnosed with Early-Onset Alzheimer’s Disease. Over the past few years, his wife, Sharley, has watched as her once strong, vivacious husband has all but disappeared from before her eyes and yet, for now, he is still with her physically and she is determined to cherish the time they have left together. On this week’s episode, Sharley explains why she has tried to be open and honest in documenting her family’s experience with Alzheimer’s.

Alma 30–31: Plea

We can learn a lot about the ways believers are deceived even today through the study of Korihor in the Book of Mormon. This week in just two chapters, Alma 30–31 we see examples of his counterfeit and find ways to identify true doctrine that can never change. And by the end of the scripture block Korihor will meet his end, reminding us that God will always prevail.

Alma 32–35: Faith

Alma 32–35 are the quintessential chapters on faith in the Book of Mormon, and however you have studied this topic before, we will approach it differently today. Cherie Call has borne testimony of faith through her life in song. So, sit back as you listen to and study this soundtrack of faith.

Alma 36–38: Deliver

The story behind Clara McMaster writing the Primary song “Teach Me to Walk in the Light” is a lesson in persistence and faith. And the song we sing now reminds us to ask about what we are teaching and how it is being taught. Alma 36–38 is about what Alma the Younger taught his sons and then asked his sons to teach the people. Whoever you teach this week, remind them to walk in the light of God’s love.

Being Prompted and Guided—Not Overwhelmed—with President Nelson’s 99+1 Invitation

Last month, President Nelson extended an invitation as he reflected his approaching 100th birthday. He shared about the significance of the number 100, and how it was used in the scriptures by the Savior in the parable of the lost sheep. “Though 99 of his flock were safely by his side, the shepherd went in search of the one who was lost.” The invitation then, is to go after the one.
