Playing basketball in the Ivy League's is hard enough. But, try doing that fresh off a mission while surrounded by dozens of new missionary opportunities.

Dear Dave,

We have all, at times, staggered under the weight of difficult moral dilemmas. Sometimes, determining the right course of action poses the greatest challenge. At other times, carrying the right thing through becomes the stumbling block. Thankfully, we have not been left alone when seeking moral courage for the tough moments. Jesus Christ is the light to whom we can look for help and strength when facing moral challenges (see Look to the Light). Said He, “I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness” (John 12:46). His light, the Light of Christ, influences us for good as we look to Him for courage to act according to the “dictates of our own conscience” (Articles of Faith 1:11).

For those ushered out of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints at Longfellow Park at 10:45 a.m. during the morning service over two years ago, the sight of the burning chapel would be difficult to forget. The spire would collapse that day, and the building’s interior was left a gnarled, burnt mess by a four-alarm fire.

Sometimes my husband teases me about living in the past. And, now that our house is quiet, I often wistfully look back at the time when I was a younger mom — raising our four children and wishing I could go back to “the good old days” of early morning piano practicing, car pools, soccer and lacrosse games, recitals, plays and choir concerts.
