Although it is wrong to take one's own life, a person who commits suicide may not be responsible for his or her acts. Only God can judge such a matter. Elder M. Russell Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles has said:
A ferocious fire destroyed an LDS Church in Tolleson on Friday morning. Firefighters from at least five municipalities were battling the blaze at the 50-year-old church at North 95th Avenue and West Pierce Street.
“Ye must pour out your souls in your closets, and your secret places, and in your wilderness.” 1 This invitation from Amulek is very inspiring. The problem is that little voice that comes in your head that says “well my closet can’t even fit all my stuff, how can I pour out my soul in there?”So we don’t pour out our souls in our closet. And too often we don’t pour out our souls at all because we don’t find that secret place where we can connect with God. Well, here are a few closets and “secret place” ideas where you CAN pour out your soul. No more excuses from that little voice. Full-time missionaries (remember this?) pray 23 times a day if they make 5 visits and 33 if they have 10 visits. Many times more. Why do we not pray as much after the mission? It’s time to make a change. It’s time to draw nearer to God. We need to #praymore.
Professor James Charlesworth, of Princeton Theological Seminary, spoke in Provo and Logan last week. A major figure for decades in the study of Judaism and Christianity around the time of Jesus, Charlesworth is also a longtime friend (and, in some cases, a mentor and former teacher) of several members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He’s visited and spoken in Utah on several prior occasions, and he’ll host a significant academic conference at BYU’s Jerusalem Center in August.

Photo from Mormon Newsroom The First Presidency has announced another temple open house and dedication to be held in 2015. The open house will not run that Sunday, November 8.
If you thought Team Obama was having a rough time figuring out how best to handle Mitt Romney’s presidential run, consider the plight of the poor Latter-day Saints. Despite the growth and gradual mainstreaming of Mormonism in recent years, the church is still regarded by many as disconcertingly exotic. Now, with the very real possibility that one of its own could wind up in the Oval Office, the LDS finds itself scrambling to adjust to life in the global spotlight.
The world watched in horror on Monday as flames nearly consumed the 850-year-old Notre Dame Cathredal.
