INTRODUCTION: Consider the following people: John the Baptist, 1000+ Anti-Nephi-Lehies, Abinadi, and Joseph Smith. What do these have in common? (Answers might include Abel (Moses 5:32), James (the brother of John—Acts 12:2)), Hyrum Smith (D&C 135:1, etc.) According to D&C 135:3, why do so many of “the Lord’s anointed” die at the hands of their enemies? Though not a member of the LDS Church, she had asked her nephew to speak at her funeral. A young returned missionary, he arranged for a quartet of elders to sing at the service, held in the cemetery chapel. I never served in Basel, but I was included in the quartet. That's why I was there.
On June 9, 1842, Joseph visited the Relief Society and spoke again of their purpose: “The Society is not only to relieve the poor, but to save souls.”
When Dusty first came in contact with anti-Mormon literature, he had no idea that his desire to refute it would eventually lead him to become a vehement persecutor of the Church he once loved. Dusty’s unique story of belief lost and found is a reminder that the Savior’s atonement reaches for us even in our seemingly unreachable places.
