Mormon practices applauded

In response to the letter "Mormonism and Christianity," I thought the freedom to practice our beliefs was one of the major reasons we are here in the United States. Isn't that one of the main reasons our soldiers are fighting -- to keep that right and freedom for us? If not, someone needs to explain to some families why their father, brother, mother, sister, son or daughter dies for no reason.

I have a confession to make—sometimes being a member of the Church makes me feel very uncomfortable. When I stand to bear my testimony, I feel a bit embarrassed. When I’m scheduling appointments with my visiting teaching sisters, I sometimes secretly hope that they’ll cancel or postpone. Missionary experiences? I don’t often pray for them, and if I do, I pray that I’ll see them coming a few days ahead of time so I can prepare.

Neighbors who lived near my home in a small Arizona town suffered the misfortune of having the foundation of their home crack. Everyone knew that the soil was sandy and that the foundation, in order to remain secure, had to rest on bedrock.
