When the Foundation for Apologetic Information & Research (FAIR) opens its 14th annual Apologetics Conference this morning at the South Towne Exposition Center, it will do so in front of its largest audience ever. "Advance registration for the conference is at an all-time high — as of now, we are projecting attendance at the conference to be 44 percent higher than previous years," said Steve Densley Jr., FAIR public relations director. "There is more interest than ever in Mormon apologetics."
Members of the New York, New York Stake along with 900 interfaith volunteers helped donated 7,500 hygiene kits to refugees on Saturday, June 5.
Since 1955, John L. Sorenson has been exploring the relationship between the Book of Mormon and the anthropology of Mesoamerica (southern Mexico and northern Central America). Since the publication of his 1985 book, "An Ancient American Setting for the Book of Mormon," he has been regarded as arguably the leading exponent for the theory that the book's narrative took place within a limited geographic setting. A new structure is deemed satisfactory, he said, "when it stands up."

Motorists driving on Interstate 75 likely have noticed the large building going up north of Griffin Road. The Fort Lauderdale Florida Temple, the first Mormon temple in South Florida, is slated to open early next year on Southwest 154th Avenue in Davie. It's expected to serve 28,000 members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including congregations from Stuart to the Florida Keys, as well as Fort Myers, Naples and the Bahamas.
If Mia Love hadn’t been born 36 years ago to a pair of near-penniless Haitian immigrants, she might have been invented in a laboratory by scheming Republican scientists. A small-town Utah mayor and big-time congressional hopeful, Love is conservative, black and Mormon -- not your typical candidate ingredients, but that makes her profile all the more compelling in a year when the nation's first black president is seeking reelection against a candidate bidding to become the nation's first Mormon chief executive.
