If you knew Christ was coming in three days, what would you do? That’s a terrifying question, right? Well, what would you do if you knew Christ was coming in 85 years? That’s plenty of time to stock up on toilet paper. However, even that amount of time wasn’t enough to help the Nephites. In Helaman 1–6, we’ll see how some contentions and “serious difficulties” prevented the Nephites from preparing spiritually for Christ’s coming and we'll learn how we can avoid making the same mistake.

Among them is a story of redemption and repentance—the story of Melody Callier. "Who am I to be the face of the church? I'm a new convert, a single mom, a black girl from the 'hood with 15 tattoos, ex-homeless, ex-drug addict," Callier said. "I felt extremely unworthy, but I hope to help one person, maybe plant a seed of hope. If I can come back and find joy, there is still a chance for others."
The First Presidency announced August 1 that the open house for the Philadelphia Pennsylvania Temple will begin August 10 and continue through September 9, with the dedication of the temple on September 18.

"In his early years in New Zealand, Matiu Kauri [Matthew Cowley] came here often to study and learn the Māori language, meditate and commune with Heavenly Father," Elder O. Vincent Haleck said during a monument dedication. "It was the peaceful surroundings of this grove that blessed and helped give voice to his Māori language and love for the Māori people. We are honoured that the City Council and leaders of this community have chosen to name this grove the Matiu Kauri Grove.”
