AfterThe Piano Guys gave an inspiring performance at President Donald Trump's "Make America Great" celebration concerton Thursday night and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sang a spectacular rendition of "America the Beautiful" at the inauguration on Friday morning, 14-year-old Latter-day Saint Lexi Walker sang a stunning version of "I Hope You Dance" at the Freedom Ball Friday evening.

I’m pretty miserable at piano. I know only one song (which I memorized in 8th grade so our piano wouldn’t go completely unused), and even though I know how to read music, something happens to my brain when I sit down in front of a piano.

Over the years, I’ve gone in and out of phase with my like of visiting teaching. In the last two years, I’ve tried to be a better member of the Relief Society, by actually being a visiting teacher. There were some years here in the recent past where I was not a visiting teacher for various reasons. But when I felt the spirit nudge me to call the Relief Society President of our ward, and tell her I could do it again, I did. It was a really overwhelming thing for me, even though I felt I could do go and serve. Following that direction from the Holy Spirit has taught me that indeed the Lord does provide a way for us to do the things he asks us to do, just like he did with Nephi, and Moses, and Noah and so many others. Back when I was still a single gal, fresh out of college, and freshly back in Mesa, AZ, after living in Provo and BYU for 3 years, where my visiting teacher was my roommate, and the sisters we taught lived five steps next door, I was in a big singles’ ward with a lot of people I didn’t know, and who frankly, scared me to death most of the time.

Recently, EllenTube and the YouTube channel for The Ellen DeGeneres Show shared a beautiful and powerful video of Claire Ryann Crosby singing "Let There Be Peace on Earth," a song performed during the #LightTheWorld concert hosted by The Piano Guys and put on with the collaboration of the Church.

Last week, I had what one would call a well-balanced day: I climbed out of bed at 5:15 a.m. for a 6-mile run, coming home just in time to make my kids a hot breakfast and send them off to school with a home-packed lunch. I tidied the house, attended a PTA meeting, called my sister, caught up with a friend at the local library, squeezed in a reading/piano lesson with my preschooler and spent a few hours on my latest manuscript. I rushed home in time to collect all the kids, usher them through homework/piano practice/violin practice and serve the family yet another homecooked meal with not one, but two vegetable side dishes. After everyone was in bed I tidied the house, prepped lunches for the next day, read my scriptures, and promptly collapsed in bed.

LDS pianist Jerald Simon recently uploaded a beautiful music video of the hymn "Love at Home." The arrangement, from his recent album Hymns of the Heart, was recorded improvisationally because Simon wanted to feel the spirit of the hymn and to let it flow freely and naturally.

Violinist Jenny Oaks Baker and her four musical children—age 16, 14, 13, and 11—have performed all over the world, from Austria to Japan and Taiwan. Recently, Jason Lyle Black, known as the "Backwards Piano Man," approached the Bakers about teaming up for an epic Disney cover.

Lexi Walker is an LDS singer who has taken the stage of Good Morning America, America's Got Talent, and The Queen Latifah Show. Besides Alex Boye, she's also performed alongside The Piano Guys, Lindsey Stirling, David Archuleta, and Kristen Chenoweth, and she recently opened for Broadway star Idina Menzel at a benefit concert.
