As human beings we tend to view conflict as something to fear or avoid, but what if we viewed conflict as an opportunity to love? Chad Ford has devoted a large portion of his life to what he calls his “true passion”: peace building and conflict resolution. On this week’s episode, Ford teaches us how our approach to conflict—specifically our willingness to “turn first”—can make all the difference.
Earlier this month, I drove with my brother, Chris, my sister, Gina, and her husband, Jonathan, to Lincoln, Nebraska, where we all grew up. We went with the middle-aged dream of running the Lincoln Half Marathon to somehow prove to ourselves that we are in the best shape of our lives, literally outrunning age. Well, I’m sure subconsciously that’s what we thought. In reality, we were painfully reminded of our age or, as my sister Gina stated when she stumbled across the finish line at Husker stadium drenched in sweat, “I didn’t respect the miles.” (Also, we forgot about the humidity. Thanks for the reminder, Nebraska.) Middle-aged delusions aside, we just wanted an excuse to “go home.”
In what has been dubbed as the “great intervention” by researcher Dr. Matthew Mayhew, every fall young adults from across the country flood college campuses to begin their freshman year. This may be the first time that many students are exposed to people that identify as a different race, sexuality, and, for the purposes of this article most notably, a different religion from themselves.
What do you immediately picture when you hear the phrase “the great and abominable church”? Hint, it’s not just one religion. In fact, there’s a lot that has been said on this topic, and it’s easy to become confused when it comes to answering these three basic questions: Who is the great and abominable church? Who founded it? And does its future look like? In this week’s Sunday on Monday study group, we’re going to tackle all of these questions and more as we study 1 Nephi 11–15.

As we are nearing Easter, we want to celebrate the Savior and his resurrection. Spring is a time of renewal, rebirth, and reflection. It's a time that brings us joy. We often use the word “joy” around Christmastime, but it really deserves a place at Easter too.
Tim Ryan stepped out into a dark, snow-strewn night in February 2017, an exciting and crazy idea forming in his mind. He was going to row across the Atlantic Ocean.

Recently, loved ones gathered for a memorial service of Sam Cowley, a former FBI agent and national hero. “[Cowley was] considered by Hoover as one of his most trustworthy — if not the most trustworthy — agent he had to lead the major investigation at that time," Calvin Chipman Clegg told KSL. "He meant a lot to the director, to the FBI, and he meant a lot to our family." In order to honor this man, we wanted to share his story:
Take a step back in history and read the accounts of courageous men and women who contributed to the unfolding of the restoration of the gospel. Be inspired by the testimonies of living prophets and countless men and women who trusted in God and labored faithfully amidst trial and heartache.
