I can’t say that I am out for world dominance, but if I was my wife and I would definitely be on the fast track as the city North Central Ward directors of the Timpanogos area 8-year-old CTRs. (I prefer this expanded title I came up with myself.) Identifying myself as director may be a bit over the top, but it looks better on a world dominance resume. My wife prefers the simple, “CTR primary teacher.”

When I was young, I had trouble leaving home to go to school. In second grade, my mom had to walk me to school and then stay in class so that I wouldn't run home. Home has always been a centerpiece in my life, both as a physical place and as a state of mind. For many years I have contemplated, even yearned, for an eternal home and have made it a quest to find it.

Throughout the countless hours of hearing the music and lyrics repeated in the background of my day, there are important lessons that I am grateful my son is (hopefully) learning.

What can you do for someone who is depressed? How can you help? What can you say to them? Well, what if I told you that you won't be able to reason someone out of depression?

When I was very young, my parents planted a magnolia tree in our yard, in hopes of my having magnolias at my wedding. Plans for my future wedding also came up when I was 16 years old. Daddy arrived home from a church meeting with a rolled-up drawing of the soon-to-be Methodist church building. He unrolled the plans and pointed with pleasure to the chapel, saying, “Look, Neill, the new church will have a center aisle, instead of the side aisle of our church now, so at your wedding, I can walk you down the center of the sanctuary!” That anticipation held a particular poignancy since I was the only daughter in a family with six sons. I expected that trip down the church aisle and planned on it. Those expectations vanished like the dew of a Louisiana morning when I took an eternal step and entered the waters of baptism in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He spent five years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. He went through three trials and to several courts to get his conviction overturned. “I think proving conspiracy is very difficult to do, and we were able to do that with a jury of my peers that heard the evidence,” he said.
