Editor's note: "This week from the pulpit" highlights recent messages by General Authorities and General Officers of the Church.
Wendy Ulrich wasn’t sure what she wanted to do with her life until she read a single question in a book one day: What would you do if you were guaranteed success? And in that moment, she knew she wanted to be a psychologist. “I care enough about this that I’m afraid to fail at it,” she remembers thinking. “I’m afraid I’ll be bad at it . . . I don’t care as much about this other field that I’m considering, so it doesn’t feel as risky somehow to my whole identity as a human being.” She wasn’t guaranteed success, but she knew psychology is what she would pursue if she wasn’t afraid to fail. So despite the fear and the uncertainty, she went for it.
On Friday, April 28, 2017, Yasuo Niiyama, president of the Tokyo Japan Temple, passed away, according to lds.org. “We express our deepest sympathies and condolences at the passing of our esteemed brother in the work of the Lord, President Yasuo Niiyama,” a letter from the Asia North Area presidency states.

Conference Talk: "Respect and Reverence" by Margaret S. Lifferth April 2009 general conference.
Another general conference came and went this past weekend, but many of the messages we heard will remain with us. We celebrated Easter by hearing testimonies of Jesus Christ from speakers who represented every populated continent on earth. We celebrated together as temples were announced around the world. And we heard calls for kindness that will hopefully influence how we engage with others moving forward.
Happy Birthday, Relief Society! Today is your 178th birthday. I’ve been trying to think about what I can do to celebrate your special day. This year is a little bit different than the others. There won’t be a Relief Society activity tonight. There won’t be a beautiful cake that tastes even better than it looks. There won’t be an inspiring take-home handout to keep on my mirror and remind me of a wonderful night shared with my sisters. There won’t be any type of in-person gathering, but I think I have an idea for how to celebrate your birthday.
The following answers to frequently asked questions are intended to help clarify some aspects of the temporary adjustments to temple worship announced by the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on Friday, March 13, 2020.
