I’m normally the one who jokes around and finds the humor during difficult situations. But recently I experienced a challenge in which I did very little laughing and a whole lot of weeping. I was hospitalized twice in one month with a systemic staph infection. The staph lodged itself in my backside, which prevented me from moving much. Man, talk about pain in the bum!

It said, “Is there anything more beautiful at Christmas than a white reindeer?” I didn’t click on the link because I disagreed (which is not to say a white reindeer, which is incredibly rare, is not a beautiful sight).
I’ve fought and abused my body, trying to destroy it. There were times when my goal really was to starve myself to death and fade away to nothing. Even when I wasn’t fully acting out in an eating-disordered manner, I still combated the desires to starve myself, to be thin as could be.

When we watch Disney movies or cartoon fairy tales, it's often easy for us to distinguish reality from fantasy. Sure some false ideals of beauty might be sneaking into our subconscious as we watch these shows, but we realize no one's eyes can really be that big and no one's waist that small if they want to be able to breathe.
