God promises to provide powerful blessings when we live the law of tithing. But the fruits of obeying this commandment aren't always what we expect.
INTRODUCTION: The Savior has consistently, throughout recorded scriptural history, tried to link himself to the commonalities of our lives so that we will be reminded of him in the daily affairs of living. Thus he calls himself the living water (John 4:10,11); the good shepherd (John 10:11); the stone or rock of Israel (D&C 50:44); the Light of the world (John 8:12; 9:5); the Lamb of God (John 1:29) the Cornerstone (Ephesians 2:19,20); and, of course, the Bread of Life and the Bread of Heaven (John 6:35, 51). How often in your life do you see water, rocks or stones, light, and bread? How would your life be blessed if these images reminded you of the ministry and mission of the Redeemer?

A small tent, held in place by a tent peg (or stake) on each corner could be easily flattened or remodeled. But if the tent were larger and secured with almost 3,200 stakes (as of the end of 2015), it would be almost impossible to move. INTRODUCTION: At least three commandments were given to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. We mentioned them last week. Imagine that you are a father or mother and that you have twin sons whom you love equally because they both try to obey you and serve you with equal diligence. Because they are so faithful you are going to do something very nice for them on their birthday. You give son #1 a brand new Pontiac Grand Am and son #2 a tricycle. What is wrong with the way you are treating your two sons? Turn to D&C 38: 26-7.

“Behold what wonders God hath wrought! Truth springs out of the earth; the gold plates are translated by the gift and power of God; and the voice we hear is one that whispers from the dust. It is the voice of all the Nephis, of Alma and Amulek and Abinadi, of Ether and Mormon and Moroni of all the Nephite and Jaredite prophets. It is the voice of the Lord Jesus Christ, who ministered among the Nephites, inviting them to feel the prints of the nails in his hands and in his feet and to thrust their hands into his riven side. It is the voice of doctrine and testimony and miracles. It is the voice of God speaking to men through the Book of Mormon.
The first section of this lesson talks about President Hunter’s personal example of being charitable or loving. He was an attorney, and he was known for putting people before profits and help before an accounting of time. His concern was that people got what they needed, not that they were charged what he was owed.
