Heather James was raised (mostly) in California, met her husband, Harvey, at BYU, and has two adult children. After 35 years (and with much trepidation), she recently applied to BYU to finish her bachelor’s degree. Heather is a recent brain cancer survivor and gives thanks every day for her life, her faith, and her Savior who was by her side every step of the way. She loves history, puzzles, ice cream and playing the piano (not necessarily in that order). Heather and her husband live in Columbia, Missouri.
Larrie Woolf Christensen was born in Idaho Falls Idaho but spent most of her growing up years in Salt Lake City Utah. Her family moved to Anaheim California when she graduated from high school and it was there that she met her late husband, O. Brent Christensen. They were married in 1964 in the Salt Lake Temple. She continues to mourn his loss and misses his steadying influence, his wonderful smile and his loyal and faithful companionship. They have four children and Larrie currently lives in Columbia Missouri near their two oldest daughters.
Christopher Jones is a father, husband, and historian. A graduate of Brigham Young University (BA, 2007; MA, 2009) and the College of William & Mary (PhD, 2016), he is currently an assistant professor of history at BYU, where he teaches a variety of courses, including Revolutionary America, African American Family History, Slavery and the Slave Trade, Family and Law in American History, and Missions and Missionaries in American History. His research focuses on religion, race, slavery, and family in early America and the Atlantic World, and his work has been published in Religion & American Culture: A Journal of Interpretation, the Journal of Mormon History, and BYU Studies Quarterly. He is currently completing two book projects - a study of Methodism in Revolutionary America and a co-edited volume on Protestant and Latter-day Saint missions in American History. Christopher lives in South Jordan, Utah with his wife, Karim—a content creator, author, and photographer—and their four children. As a family, they enjoy food (both cooking and eating), hiking, reading, travel, and sports.
Matthew Estes lives in a beautiful home just south of Salt Lake City Utah with his gorgeous wife, two precocious children and adorable dog, Lucy. When Matthew isn't being a stay-at-home dad (aka chauffeur), he is a professional D&D Dungeon Master and manager at a local game shop. Through Dungeons & Dragons, Matthew is able to help youth and young adults find themselves through their imagination and develop valuable social skills. As an advocate for autism, having both a brother and son with this "superpower", Matthew enjoys the opportunity to help neurodiverse individuals find ways to express themselves. He also enjoys a good video game, reading a classic comic book or listening to interesting movie themed podcasts.
Jake lives with his wife and four children in Boise, Idaho. When he's not taxiing kids to practices and appointments, he loves to read, learn about new hobbies, and watch movies. He's a practicing attorney who also volunteers with an organization to help parents of children with special needs.
Jason R. Combs is an assistant professor in the Department of Ancient Scripture at Brigham Young University. He holds master’s degrees in Biblical Studies from Yale University Divinity School and in Classics from Columbia University, and he earned his Ph.D. in Religious Studies, specializing in the New Testament and early Christianity, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. When he isn’t teaching and writing, you’ll find him attending the theater—most commonly, musicals.
Kaloni Hall is an Idaho farmgirl who enjoys archery, crafting, and music. She’s a family history enthusiast who especially enjoys visiting countries of her heritage. She owns an event and wedding planning company in Idaho. As a member of Big Ocean Women, she advocates for faith,family, and motherhood globally.
