The following is an excerpt from Neill Marriott’s book Seek This Jesus. Neill Marriott converted to the Church at age 22, married in the Salt Lake Temple a year later, and had 11 children. She also served as second counselor in the General Primary Presidency for the Church.
Attending the temple is one of the greatest ways to find answers to prayers, learn about the gospel, and feel close to the Savior. Nineteen temples have been announced over the past year and members all around the world will enjoy the blessings that will come from these new temples.

On April 24, 2005, President Gordon B. Hinckley addressed over 100,000 members in 27 stakes on the islands of the southern Philippines. In a live broadcast originating from Salt Lake City, he spoke of the Church’s progress and the requirements to have a temple built in the Cebu City area. After acknowledging their desire for another temple, President Hinckley challenged all the adult members to qualify for a temple recommend. Then he said, “If enough of you can do this, we shall be obliged to build another temple in the Philippines more convenient to where you live.”

Admittedly, there are not a lot of worthy role models to be found among the heroes of Hollywood. The image promoted by the mass media is one of debauchery, gratification, and impulsive decisions. Despite this, the prophet Mormon taught that “The Spirit of Christ is given to every man”—which means that even in the darkest corners of the entertainment industry, the light of positive moral values can and does shine through. It’s easy to focus on the bad when discussing celebrities, but there is still good to be found in some statements from various household-known names, who have taken at least one stand for the right.
