If the walls of the Kirtland Temple could speak, they would tell you what they saw that day—April 3, 1836—when the Living Christ appeared to the Prophet Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery. Still, the temple stands as a witness of the reality of the Resurrection that we celebrate at Easter. Perhaps it is only fitting that the Kirtland Temple reopened under the Church’s ownership this week. On this week’s episode, Elder Kyle S. McKay shares how history and an understanding of our heritage strengthens our own faith.

Paula Crnkovich Millington was born in Idaho to the best parents and family in the world. After she graduated from BYU (BS), she took a ministerial leave of absence from LDS Hospital to serve in the Kaohsiung Taiwan mission. Paula also received degrees from the University of Utah (M.Ed and Ph.D). Seven years after she returned from her mission in Taiwan, she met her husband, Jeff Millington, who served in the Taipei Taiwan mission. Paula recently retired from the University of Utah and she and Jeff are currently serving together as missionaries in the Taipei Taiwan mission. Paula loves the Savior and His gospel and takes so much comfort in the plan of redemption and her covenants, constantly recognizing tender mercies in her life. Faith! Family! Friends! Are her priorities. She loves chocolate (an understatement) and jigsaw puzzles and morning walks. Paula’s father’s parents (Crnković/Gasparac and Palijan/Krizmanić) are from Croatia and she and her siblings have been able to visit their grandparents’ birthplaces and meet Croatian cousins. It turns out they are pretty much related to everyone in both villages so family and friends have been busy doing temple work for every relative they can find. It’s a labor of love.

Tennisa grew up in the Salt Lake City area the daughter of a single mother, from whom she learned perseverance, independence, and to love fiercely. She was baptized at age 8 1/2 but didn't become active in church until her junior high friends invited her to attend seminary. There she grew a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and started her faith journey. One of her most joy-filled days was when she and her mother received their temple endowments together on her 21st birthday in the Atlanta, GA temple. Tennisa attended Ricks College and the University of Utah where she earned a bachelor's degree in Accounting. She has recently returned to higher education to pursue an MBA at Western Governors University. Out of college, she began working as a Senior Accountant at Deseret Book Company in January of 2000 where she still works today as the Director of Product Management. She loves her career and thrives in learning, but the role that brings Tennisa the most pride and joy is her role as a wife to Lantz for 26 years, and mom to the amazing and talented Saley, Grant, Bella, Hazel, and the dog, Bentley. Together they love to dance in the kitchen, blast music and sing during chores, travel, play games, attend each other's games and performances, and raft the Snake River near Jackson Hole, WY.

As we listen to promptings then act on opportunities to joyfully share about Jesus Christ and His gospel, we become more articulate in sharing our faith. And the more we act on promptings to share about Jesus, the more inspiration we receive to help and lift others which increases our happiness. It’s a beautiful cycle, and we get to be part of it.
