Whether or not missionaries dress up for Halloween is at the discretion of their mission president. Missionaries are not allowed to proselyte in costume and their appeal is to reflect the Church's guidelines for missionary clothing.
INTRODUCTION: At least three commandments were given to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. We mentioned them last week. They were to 1) multiply and replenish the earth; 2) not eat the forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil; and 3) stay together. Can teaching Brazilians new languages turn Carlos Wizard Martins into a billionaire? The question asked two years ago by a Forbes article was answered today with the purchase of Grupo Multi by Pearson – a media and education company with 36,000 people in more than 70 countries – for $719.6 million in cash. Language learning is set to keep growing in Latin America’s largest country, mainly thanks to the World Cup and the Olympics coming, the growth of the middle class and of Brazil’s tourism sector. Consider that fewer than 3% of Brazil’s 200 million people are fluent in English and it is easy to realize why Pearson, owner of the Financial Times, has been investing so heavily in the Brazilian market. In 2010, Pearson acquired a Brazilian school system business for $372 million, Pearson’s largest-ever acquisition outside of the U.S. before today’s announcement. Founded in 1987, Wizard’s Multi Group is the market leader in Brazil’s booming language teaching industry, with over 2,600 franchised schools, generating over 20,000 jobs and more than 800,000 students.
"The Star Still Shines," written by Shawna Edwards and performed by David Osmond, reminds us of the miracles that are in our lives today and how all of those small miracles point to the greatest miracle that has ever been, the birth, life, atonement, and resurrection of our Savior.

The LDS film genre — which is enough of a niche to have its own Wikipedia page — got its start in the early 1900s with two movies financed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1940, 20th Century Fox jumped on board, distributing a biographical romantic drama centered on Brigham Young’s life, complete with well-known writers and actors.
Hundreds of Latter-day Saints will take to their keyboards to entertain, uplift, offer commentary and share the gospel on the Internet during the weekend’s 183rd Annual General Conference. Memes like this, as well as LDS blog posts, tweets and Facebook posts become common during general conference. (Courtesy memegenerator.com) In the April 2011 General Conference, President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, second counselor in the First Presidency, told a worldwide audience that sharing the gospel is easier than ever before because of social media.

When Thomas S. Monson was called to the Quorum of the Twelve in October of 1963, one of the first assignments he was given was to supervise the work of the gospel in the Polynesian area. He came to know and love the members in Polynesia, even giving his October 1966 conference talk on "God's Gifts to Polynesia's People."
