Dallas Jenkins: Behind the Scenes of “The Chosen”

"The Chosen" explores the life of Christ through the eyes of those who knew Him. The narrative multi-season show has received high praise from viewers and critics alike, earning a 9.8 out of 10 rating on IMDB. But with the praise, it has also attracted skeptics. Some don’t believe evangelical Christians should be working with Latter-day Saints on a show about Jesus or vice versa, and others believe scripture should only be portrayed exactly as it is written without creative liberties. The show’s writer and director, Dallas Jenkins, believes that exploring faith, especially in relation to the Savior, is something that requires trust. On this week’s episode, he shares the triumphs as well as the challenges of depicting the life of the Son of God.

On today's episode, she shares her thoughts on what being a disciple looks like in an online world and how we can signal that the most important person we follow is Christ.

Emily attended Brigham Young University to study sociology while beginning a career in customer service. After establishing her career as a customer service manager, and one really bad sunburn, Emily met her husband Matthew in a Dayton, Ohio singles ward. One magical date with dinner and a 'Beatles' concert, and life has never been the same since! Emily, Matthew, their two boys and rambunctious shih tzu recently settled in Utah and patiently await the day when they can be reunited with their daughter in Heaven.

27: "No Weapon That Is Formed against You Shall Prosper" (Doctrine and Covenants 71–75)

When a family member or friend leaves the Church, it can be a very heart-wrenching experience. It can also be difficult to know what to say or do in order to support them as they navigate life without the teachings of the gospel. This was the situation Joseph Smith faced throughout his life as close friends would sometimes leave and become antagonistic toward the Church. But in Doctrine and Covenants 71–75, we find invaluable counsel the Lord gives to Joseph Smith that can help us today as we seek to support and love those who have left the Church.
