When faith and faithfulness are added to priesthood authority, marvelous things can happen in the lives of men, women, and families. We learn in the scriptures that after the Lord "called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease" (Matthew 10:1; see also Mark 3:14; Mark 6:7; and Luke 9:1). . . .
I remember and honor Dr. King for that night at midnight when he sat at that tiny kitchen table, his head bowed over a cup of coffee, praying to God when he was losing his courage.

A Billy Graham Evangelistic Association article labeling Mormonism a cult has been removed from the group’s website following the 93-year-old evangelist’s meeting with Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney last week. Graham, during the meeting, pledged to do “all I can” to help Romney get elected.

A couple of weeks ago Trina Boice reviewed The Other Side of Heaven 2, giving it her recommendation. Having just seen the film I’d like to add a second witness, if you will, that the film is entertaining, profoundly moving, and has the visuals to demand a big-screen viewing in the theater.
I remember the first time I felt like I was in over my head. I had just graduated high school and the bishop of our congregation, or “ward,” had invited me in to his office during Church. As we chatted about my plans for college and other things, he asked if I would accept a “calling,” or in other words, a church assignment. I was expecting him to ask if I would be the ward chorister or something. But instead, he asked me if I would accept the assignment to be the teacher of a group of teenage girls, or “Young Women,” in our congregation.
In September of 2010, I was camping with some friends in Arizona. We had just finished hiking through Bronco Canyon, an incredibly difficult but rewarding hike and set up camp near the beautiful Cherry Creek. The night was uncomfortably warm so we decided that we didn’t need to set up our shelters.
This week’s bonus Father’s Day episode of This is the Gospel celebrates stories from faithful men who are braving the wilderness of fatherhood. John admits he's not very handy as his attempts to create the perfect swing set fall short and, as a result, he allows comparison to take over. John isn't sure he's got what it takes for fatherhood to begin with but when infertility makes that even harder, he learns that “what it takes” might be different than he imagined.
Young men in white shirts and ties and young women in conservative skirts will replace T-shirt-and-jeans-wearing college students at two Provo apartment complexes for at least the next year and a half. Raintree Commons and Wyview Park will be transformed into temporary campuses for 2,000 Mormon missionaries while the LDS Church makes plans to expand its bulging Missionary Training Center.
