Before I joined the more than church 20 years ago, I would compare my life to a room with no windows. It lacked warmth and light. It was cold and hard, with very little room to breathe. Every once in a while, I could hear that there was more beyond the walls that trapped me, but I didn’t know how to find my way out.

Latter-day Saints made some noise for both teams during Saturday night’s BYU-Utah rivalry game, but you may not know that it was a big day for another Latter-day Saint on the gridiron.

Charlie Bird rotated his body in a perfect flip. It was the type of movement that was so familiar, the execution was more than just muscle memory now—it was a part of him. The man who had performed as Brigham Young University’s mascot, Cosmo the Cougar, and who had danced in ESPN’s 2017 College Football Awards, was simply doing what he had always done, defying gravity and soaring through the air.
I wonder if, when Paul penned the immortal words, “charity never faileth” (1 Corinthians 13:8) he had any idea it would be the mantra and motto for millions and millions of women nearly 2,000 years later. Probably not. Yet is it. It’s the theme of Relief Society. It is the greatest commandment. Mormon taught that charity, “is the pure love of Christ” (Moroni 7:47). That sounds beautiful, doesn’t it? But he also said that without it, we are nothing (See Moroni 7:46).

Eliana Su’a does resemble the Disney animated character Moana. There is no denying it. But on the set of Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, where Eliana was starring in her first major motion picture as Sam, the daughter of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, the popular Disney movie came to life. It all started when Hollywood sweethearts Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively brought their daughters on the set of the film while Reynolds was filming a brief cameo appearance. Their daughters, who are both under the age of 5, began following Eliana around the set saying, “Moana, Moana!”
When the angel Moroni first visited Joseph Smith in 1823, he said that Joseph’s name would be known for good and evil throughout the world. Moroni’s statement has never been more true than in the present. Around the globe, millions of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints testify that Joseph was a prophet of God who restored Christ’s Church. As we write this in April 2020, the Church just completed a general conference that celebrated the Restoration. During this conference, the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles released a “Bicentennial Proclamation to the World” that shared their solemn witness of Joseph’s role in the “restoration of the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
