Singing sensation David Archuleta performed with The Tabernacle Choir on Temple Square in their 2010 Christmas concert.
Archuleta’s tenor vocals and boyish charm brought the combined 80,000-plus audience to its feet at each performance. His performance left no wonder about why he wowed audiences with his second place finish on American Idol in 2008, with 44 percent of the 97 million votes cast.
A Latter-day Saint, he is the youngest guest artist to perform with the Choir.
Finding early success as the Junior Vocal Champion on the television show Star Search, Archuleta discovered a serious condition that almost left him without a voice. After learning one of his vocal cords were paralyzed, he declined risky surgery in favor of a long period of vocal rest and training. His unique voice stems from this incident and remains strong today.
After his highly successful run on American Idol, Archuleta was signed to Jive Records and released his hit single “Crush,” which peaked at #2 on the charts.
