Andrographis (A. paniculata ), is generally known as “king of bitters,” is an herbaceous plant in the family Acanthaceae. In China, India, Thailand, and Malaysia, this plant has been widely used for centuries for treating sore throat, flu, and upper respiratory tract infections.

A myriad of recent scientific studies show Andrographis exhibits pharmacological activities such as those that are immuno-stimulatory, antiviral. It is reported to work by stimulating the immune system by preventing viruses from replicating, binding to healthy cells, preventing those cells to being taken over or transmuted into new viral cells.

Another recent double-blind, placebo-based controlled clinical of subjects with flu revealed that the administration of Andrographis extract reduced the severity of symptoms and duration of cold and flu.
