The service manager for Action Plumbing Heating & Air, Randy Leek, has a few suggestions on how to maintain your air conditioner to extend its longevity and get it working correctly before the heat hits. “The first step in tuning up your air conditioner is to replace the air filter on a monthly basis or according to manufacturer specifications.” This simple and timely task will help your A/C run more efficiently while maintaining a regular temperature in the home and saving on electric bills.
Or, perhaps you are feeling ambitious and really want to clean up your air conditioner before you turn it on for the summer. The next action item in the do-it-yourself A/C tune-up is to clear the drain. First, place a cap over one end of the drain. Then, using a dry vacuum, suck out any dirt from the outside end of the air conditioner drain.
