Welcome to the 2022 Season of the Utah Shakespeare Festival! The Festival’s 61st season has begun in beautiful Cedar City and runs through October 8. Guests can enjoy plays, musicals, comedies, and dramas, plus Greenshows and other Festival experiences.
The theatrical offerings include three Shakespeare plays, two musicals, three contemporary plays, and three Greenshows, all performed on our four distinct stages. Productions in the open-air Engelstad Shakespeare Theatre will delight and awe guests. This season patrons can choose from Shakespeare’s stormiest tragedy, King Lear, or his rarely performed comedy, All’s Well That Ends Well set in 1940s France and Italy. In addition, for the first time in Festival history, theatre-goers have the opportunity to enjoy a musical - Sondheim’s masterpiece Sweeney Todd - in this state-of-the-art outdoor space.

In the lovely indoor Randall L. Jones Theatre, catch the hilarious whodunnit play Clue, fall in love with the Von Trapp Family Singers in the beloved musical The Sound of Music, or enjoy the satirical backstage drama Trouble in Mind. If a more intimate theatre setting is your preference, be sure to get tickets for the contemporary setting of Shakespeare’s most imaginative romance, The Tempest, and the one-man historical drama, Thurgood, both in the Eileen and Allen Anes Studio Theatre.
Celebrate on the green each evening before the mainstage shows. Three distinct Greenshows invite guests to prepare for the evening plays with this year’s themes: “The Last Time I Saw Paris,” “British Music Hall,” and “Coronation Day.” These thirty-minute performances are free and fun for the whole family, with music, dancing, storytelling, and audience participation.
