In 1984, the dedication of the Guatemala City Guatemala Temple marked the first temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Central America.

And now 42 years later, the city is gaining another distinction for the Church—the first Central American city to have two temples.

[On] Sunday, Oct. 11, Elder Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will dedicate the Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple, the country’s fourth.

This dedication will make Guatemala City, Guatemala, the second city outside the U.S. to have two temples, the first being Lima, Peru.
