With renovations set to begin in March 2018for the Washington D.C. Temple, East Coast newspapers are already buzzing about the chance to tour the temple during the open house, which is projected to be in 2020.

As Bethesda Magazine notes, it will be the first time in 40 years people will be able to tour this iconic temple, the tallest LDS temple in the world.

About the Washington D.C. Temple, the Washington Post gave this nostalgic description:

"For anyone who drives around the Capital Beltway, the soaring white spires are a familiar sight—and yet a complete mystery to most.
"Maryland children have grown up believing that the fairytale building was Disneyland, or heaven itself. Drivers sitting in maddening I-495 traffic have likened the building to the Emerald City so often that pranksters started writing 'Surrender Dorothy' on the nearby bridge. . . .It’s not heaven or Oz; it’s the temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kensington."
