Church members lose homes but all are safe after flooding in Argentina

Many Church members lost their homes in La Plata, Argentina, during the early hours of Tuesday, April 2, when a record-breaking storm inundated the area with more than 10 inches of rain in just a few hours. Water levels quickly rose, flooding many neighborhoods and low-lying areas and causing at least 52 deaths. Several people drowned after being trapped in their cars or while walking along city streets as the water quickly rose. The same storm killed at least five people in Buenos Aires. The rains also flooded the country’s largest oil refinery, causing a fire that took hours to extinguish.

All missionaries and members were reported safe after the storm, according to a Church welfare report.
